Use Tapestry PRM with your AI assistant

Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants · Always-on is a preview, free while it lasts

Connect an AI assistant to Tapestry PRM and ask it about the people you know: who’s at a company, how you met, what you last discussed and who can introduce you. Assistants can look things up, but they can’t send, change or delete anything.

Two ways to connect

  • On your Mac. Assistants that run on your Mac, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, connect from the Add tab of Tapestry’s Access page and read Tapestry on the Mac itself.
  • From anywhere, with Always-on. Claude on the web, on the desktop and on your phone, and ChatGPT on the web, connect at one address, https://hosted.tapestryprm.com/mcp. Tapestry’s hosted service answers them from your Always-on copy, even while your Mac is asleep or off. This is the address Tapestry PRM’s listing in Claude’s directory connects to.

The Access page is called Ask in Tapestry 0.2.39 and earlier. Without Always-on, remote access gives your Mac an address of its own instead, which works while the Mac is on, awake and online; Tapestry shows it on the same tab.

What you need

  • Tapestry PRM for Mac, with macOS 13 or later. It’s invite-only for now: request access.
  • A Tapestry account with two-step sign-in using an authenticator app, which protects your Always-on copy.
  • Remote access and Always-on turned on. Open Settings → Account on your Mac and, under Remote access, turn on Always-on. Before anything is uploaded, Tapestry shows what will go into the copy, counted by source, and what stays out.
  • Claude, whose Free plan allows one custom connector, or ChatGPT on a plan that allows custom connectors.

Connect Claude

  1. In Claude, connect Tapestry PRM from the connector directory, or add a custom connector and paste https://hosted.tapestryprm.com/mcp.
  2. Claude opens a Tapestry page in your browser that shows a 6-character code. Codes last 10 minutes.
  3. On your Mac, open the Access page’s Add tab and type the code under Approve a sign-in. Check the assistant it names, then choose Approve with Touch ID and confirm with Touch ID, your Apple Watch or your password.

Approve only a code you see in your own browser right now. Once approved, Tapestry works in Claude on the web, on the desktop and on your phone.

Connect ChatGPT

In ChatGPT on the web, add a custom connector (Add custom MCP) and paste https://hosted.tapestryprm.com/mcp, then approve its code on your Mac as above. It works only on plans that allow custom connectors, and the ChatGPT phone and desktop apps can’t add one.

Other assistants

Another assistant may work if it can add a remote MCP server that signs in with OAuth. Tapestry’s own steps cover Claude and ChatGPT, and we haven’t tested others.

What an assistant can do

Depending on what its read limit allows, an assistant can use these lookups. Every one is read-only.

LookupWhat it finds
Find contactsThe people you know who match a short search, such as a skill, a company or a topic.
Look up a contactOne person’s profile, found by email address, phone number or LinkedIn profile link, with their past and upcoming activity.
Recent interactionsYour conversations with someone, newest first, or the events you have scheduled with them.
Read a conversationOne conversation end to end, such as an email thread or a chat.
Find dated records and Open recordsDated conversation records with specific people, or with the people at specific organizations, and each record’s subject and a short preview.
Find an introduction pathUp to three ways to reach someone through people you know, each through a different first person.
Find ways into companiesWho you know at each company on a list of up to 100.
Prep for a meetingFacts for one meeting from your own records: each attendee you know, your recent activity with them and where you left things.
List groupsThe organizations in your Tapestry, with how many people each has, largest first.
Pull what changedNew and changed messages since the assistant last asked.

What it reads

  • An assistant connected through Always-on reads your Always-on copy, within the read limit you set for it in Tapestry. One with no read limit set reads everything assistant access shares.
  • Gmail, Slack, HubSpot, Attio and Avoma aren’t in the copy yet, and meetings from Granola, Fathom, Fireflies and Plaud go in without their notes or transcripts, so answers through Always-on leave those out. Our privacy notice lists what the copy holds.
  • Your Mac sends changes within about a minute while Tapestry runs, and every answer says how old the copy is. An assistant you approved since the last upload reads nothing until the next.
  • What an assistant reads goes to its provider, such as Anthropic for Claude or OpenAI for ChatGPT, which keeps it under its own terms.
  • The copy is stored encrypted and opened only in the memory of the process answering an assistant. It isn’t end-to-end encrypted: code we deploy to the service can read it. Turning Always-on off deletes the copy.

See what assistants read

On your Mac, the Access page lists each read and what it contained under Recent assistant access. From any computer signed in to your account, you can see when each assistant asked, which lookup it used and whether it was answered.

Signing an assistant out

On the Access page’s Connected tab, under Approved assistants, choose Sign out next to the assistant. You can sign an assistant out, or turn Always-on off, from any computer signed in to your account. Sign it out in Tapestry even if you’ve removed Tapestry from the assistant, so its sign-in ends at once. Otherwise a sign-in ends 30 days after it last renewed its access.
